After Dark HorrorFest 8 films To Die For Review - PERKINS 14. So far I have reviewed half of this years films from the 8 Films To Fie For collection and I must admit I was not impressed with the selection thus far. That is until now. My fifth viewing in the 2009 - 8 Films To Die For collection is Perkins 14. This is not a perfect film nor does it offer much in the category of new to fans of say zombie films or any film where people go nutz and kill everyone they come in contact with. There are literally hundreds of titles like this one however Perkins 14 sets itself apart from being historically derivative. The reason it is so different lies within the context of the story with the who's and why's things happen. The only person that really knows the reason for the why of the story is shot dead early on, leaving you to guess and wonder what the hell is happening for the rest of the film. Everything that happens in the first 30 min is absolutley fun and frightening and sets the all the following events up very nicely. This film also sports some pretty nice gore to boot. This is not the most brilliantly acted film, nor is the direction exquiite, but I was entertained and left wondering where each turn was going to take the characters. With the exception of Dying Breed, I recommend this film as the best film I have seen thus far in this collection which has been absolutley weak at best.
