Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Alexander Z — 17 Jun 2011
One word that comes to mind when thinking about Perfume is grimy. The setting of this film is one of its greatest strengths. As for the story itself, I was engrossed throughout. I loved the different spin on the murder mystery, and while keeping the focus on the murderer is always a risk, it played out perfectly here.
Add to that one of the more surreal endings you'll ever see, and you have a film that will probably alienate some, but is compelling nonetheless.
