Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Nick A — 03 Aug 2011
Some time ago (3 months I think) I found this by mistake on BBC I-Player. The BBC's 10 word description did not sell it / do it justice in providing a brief summary of the film; in fact the summary seemed complete unrelated to the film - other than the inclusion of the word murder.
However I was curious enough to watch and I rarely watch a film from start to finish without a cigarette / food break (or an excuse to think about something else) and that applys to cinema's as well.
My point being that I wish I had seen it on the big screen. A unique and thrilling plot with an all round top cast. But Ben Whishaw was amazing as the lead - considering he was playing a murderer of virgin redheads and he barely spoke a word through most of the film; I felt for his character; I liked his character & despite his dispicapal deeds I felt a sadness in his death.
A beautifully weird film worth being watched.
