Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Zachariel S — 03 Apr 2012
Very original. Excellent performances, cinematography, brilliant period piece costumes and all. Direction and more exploration of the lead characters dominant sense of smell should've been explored with experimental editing transitions.
How jean hid from an entire town of people, with no allies, baffles me. Could've been cut down slightly and the score was underwhelming for such an epic tale. I don't know if it holds the record for the largest group love scene of all time, but a lot of effort went into it.
Could have served with a much better resolution, though I have not read the novel, I can see how it might fare better with the unexpected and somewhat unsatisfying ending than it did on screen.
