Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Hannah D — 29 Oct 2012
A period movie with a great setting in 18th century Paris. I agree with some reviews about it as "a movie where eyes turn to noses." It is difficult to execute a movie that mostly deal with the sense of smell but I think the film makers done the possibly they can in showing the fragrances of the world through the motion picture and visual setting.
Acting is good and the settings are beautiful especially at the last 45 minutes of the film. Creepy and thrilling atmosphere is well done plus it lets the viewers learn about perfume and perfumery during the 18th century which is interesting for me.
The story is interesting but it could have a better if not a must re-write ending. Others might find it hard to like this movie for its story, art and concept but it is still watchable and recommended.
