Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Fran P — 12 Oct 2013
Thoroughly disturbing but beautifully and cleverly made. If you've read the book, you'll appreciate the challenge of bringing such a descriptive piece about something as intangible as scent to life visually, and I think this is a very faithful and evocative attempt.
Ben Whishaw absolutely nails it. Dustin Hoffman is an extremely strange choice for Baldini but otherwise this is well-cast. Difficult to watch but it's worth persevering.
