Review of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006) by Jayakrishnan R — 12 Jan 2013
......don't really understand how this film got a low rating, this again shows that the critics are a bunch of losers who don't know what they are watching. Jean- Baptiste is the best anti-hero ever created in a fiction-drama, even better than Sweeney Todd. This is not a serial killer film, he kills because he finds no other way to fulfill his purpose. The director doesn't want us to feel sympathy for him, but we will be forced to think when he kills himself because he cannot have the love that the perfume gives every one else.
Besides this is one of the few films in which we can accept that nudity is a part of narration, rather than feeling that it was used only for money making. The few dialogue- more narration kind of story telling is a new thing and Ben Whishaw gives a strong performance.
