Review of Performance (1970) by Jimbob T — 13 Nov 2008
Really enjoyed this movie and it took me a long time to getting around to seeing it. When I found out that Nicholas Roeg was the DP and co-director, I decided I had to see it because I've always liked the way his movies look, like Don't Look Now, for example.
It's an interesting story. Some people have criticized it for not actually having a plot, but it's there. I've heard it called a rock 'n' roll version of Ingmar Bergman's Persona.
I like how it's kind of two movies in one - an English gangster movie and an experimental art movie. Really good.
