Review of Perfectly Normal (1991) by Martin G — 27 Dec 2008
A perfectly DELIGHTFUL, quirky comedy! Merges deadpan comedy with images of the bleak side of working-class Canada, and with (very naturally and very incidentally, albeit briefly) extremely casual treatment of issues of fluid gender identification. Positively bizarre and even approaching surreal, but always coming back to something concrete.
Robbie Coltrane gives a spectacular performance.
A true gem.
