Review of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) by Shawn F — 04 May 2014

I loved the source material. I also understand creative liberties, but this was so far from the source that it should not share a name with the book.

Even on it's own, it does not stand well. This movie cannot seem to make up its mind on if it wants to be a comedy or a drama. It is constantly setting up large dramatic (almost convoluted) scenes only to cram a ( often terrible) joke or pun.

Using images from the books, this movie is a Cyclops drawing in its victims with the sound of something familiar only to club them over the head with shoddy storytelling and take their money.
