Review of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) by Trinity H — 26 Feb 2015
The Good Part:
Logan Lerman still carries the titular character at his best. More Greek references means more fun, and more visual effects brings a more glorious spectacle to behold. This one brings an important message of believing in oneself, and to accept others the way they are. The main cast gells even better in this, than the prequel.
The Bad Part:
The same issue with the first movie, is how the creative liberty takes a lot of what could've been awesome from the original novel. Recasting some characters out of nowhere, shows that this sequel wasn't thought out when the first movie was made, because in a way it ruins the connection. The changes also cause occasional logic issues, that while hidden amidst the visual effects, can still be noticed upon second viewing. The age differences between the main cast is starting to look obvious as well, to the point of bringing a suspension of disbelief.
