Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Cole M — 02 Sep 2012
BEGINING.
This right here, is a very entertaining movie. There was both GOOD NEWS, and BAD NEWS.
GOOD NEWS.
It was a wonderful family movie, it stayed pretty true to the book with the monsters (they even remembered the part in the end with Gabe turning to stone!).
BAD NEWS.
I do wish they hadn't taken out the Oracle. How will they explain that in the later movies? They also took out Percy's adventure at the Gateway Arch, and replaced it with the Hydra in Nashville. Finally, They made Percy, Annabeth, and Grover too old. They looked at least 16 (they could drive.). How will Percy and his friends grow up in the later movies?
CONCLUSION.
Other than the bad, it was a pretty entertaining movie. If I had not have read the books, I would have thought the movie was almost flawless! I can't wait for the next one that comes out at August 16, 2013 ;-).
