Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Marilyn A. Hernández A — 22 Sep 2012
Released around the same time as a Harry Potter film, this putrid tripe is part Teen Beat magazine part crappy Clash of the Titans. Ironically directed by Chris Columbus who directed the first two HP films albeit the 2 most lighthearted HP films.
Relies too much of CGI because of the weaknesss of the lead character actor. My primary complaint of all of Hollywood is the reliance on good looking buy weak lead actors who shouldnt even be in a lead role.
Hollywood is so desperate for solid leading men that they'll shove guys like Lerman and Jackson down our throats in the hope that demand for them will increase. Hence why we see B-list wusses Ryan Reynolds and Joseph Gordon Levitt starring in blockbuster films.
I seriously hated this flm and didnt even finish it.
