Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Scott A — 21 Feb 2013
This was an actual fun movie. I remember reading it was a Harry Potter ripoff, so I never bothered with it, but with a sequel looming, figured I'd finally give it a whirl. The effects in this are pretty amazing and I loved the whole idea that GODs still exist and are among us in modern times. They come down to Earth and make babies, Demi-Gods, and they basically train to save the world.
The three leads were all fine, and my goodness is Daddario cute: those eyes are crazy awesome. She is what me made like the newest Texas Chainsaw film too!
The smaller roles played by the bigger names are the fun part. Coogan as Hades and Bean as Zeus really don't get much screen time, and even less to Dawson as Hades' wife, but she is great. The best if probably Thurman as Medusa. Those snakes freaked me out...too real looking. I really hate snakes!!!
