Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Tavius R — 23 Jun 2013
Damn 20th Century Fox, can you possibly rip off Harry Potter any more? Speaking as someone who read the book, I will say the book is much, much better. Here they changed way too much, and not for the better.
The basic plot is that one day Percy Jackson finds out that he is a demigod, he is being accused of stealing Zeus' fake ass lightning bolt and his mother his kidnapped by Hades. Now he must rescue his mom and find a way to clear his name.
The plot is tiresome and mundane, unoriginal, and downright stupid. It also contains some poorly written characters, horrendous dialogue, and terrible performances from everyone in the cast. Hell, the only good thing is that the effects look good, not great mind you.
I hate it when people say this, but I have to say it here: The book is better.
