Review of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) by Lauren A — 30 Aug 2013
Well, I've seen worse adaptations of books, but for something as wonderful as the Percy Jackson series, Hollywood could have done better. Much of the adventure is sliced out, and even the action scenes seem a bit typical of a fantasy genre movie.
Character-wise, Percy seemed a bit "stiff", like he WAS a actor, instead of being the character himself. If we could've put in spotlights as he ran or fought, it would have only made it plain to see that Percy was just a over-glorified character for the fans.
With most semi-animated movies, CGI was very well done, but the acting, combined with the lack of true plotline, leaves much to be desired.
