The Percy Jackson books could provide a whole series of films with an exciting and imaginative story and great dialogue, but you can't just throw a respectable cast, successful director, and a whole lot of money at a project and expect a good film to emerge. Especially not when you butcher the source books almost beyond recognition. The push to make this the next Harry Potter seems to have stripped the film of much of its originality and soul, giving us just another Harry Potter wannabe.
