Review of People Like Us (2012) by Simon G — 02 Oct 2012
Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks cut their dramatic acting chops after both failing in Bottle Shock and The Next Three Days respectably. When his father dies, Sam (Pine) is forced to face and come to terms with a family secret that will change his life forever.
Alex Kurtzman (writer of such action fare as MI:3, Star Trek and the forthcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel) writes and directs this emotional drama about family and forgiveness. Banks finally takes on a role she can really sink her teeth into and Pine takes his charming every-man schtick to a new level in a film that will surprise and delight in equal measure.
