The storyline already reveals that you are about to see a somewhat soap opera-like movie. If you go in with that expectation (and the scepticism that goes with it), you will be positively surprised. One might ask oneself if the story is interesting for the big screen or is maybe just good enough for the TV programm, and it's an understandable thought.
What distinguishes the movie from your average TV soap opera, are multiple things. First of all, the writing is great. You can get this depth on TV. Second, the acting performances are quite solid. I always had trouble with taking Banks seriously and, in this role, she shows potential.
And last but not least, it's a story that has heart and soul and that everyone will find relateable in some aspect.
