Review of People Like Us (2012) by Dc E — 14 Oct 2012
"People Like Us" 10 Scale Rating: 6.0 (Decent) ...
The Good: Extremely well written with excellent performances all around. The leads, Pine and Banks, were especially good. I wasn't sure if Pine could pull off this kind of movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. The setup and ending were VERY well done, the payoff being especially worthwhile.
The Bad: The middle drags on quite a bit. They had a good idea and knew how they wanted to end it, but didn't seem to know what they wanted to happen in-between. The film also gets a little awkward as Banks is not aware that Pine is actually her brother. Pine's character, aware of this fact, seems to lead her on in a romantic way. It was more than a little creepy and takes away from the movie quite a bit.
