Review of Peepli Live (2010) by Kashvi S — 15 Aug 2010
A film on a social issue oft defeats the movie-going experience. Being diadactic seldom serves any purpose -- it neither strikes a cord nor makes moolahs for the producer. Peepli Live solves this conundrum with the canny use of satire. While you may be cracking up at the foul mouthed amma or at Natha's poker faced demeanour, there's an appaling state of situation that you may at least give a thought to. It is never heavy but very real -- characters, milieu, in fact everything! And that is its USP.
Nice effort. Enjoyable and thought provoking too (if u care to).
