Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Peter H — 09 Sep 2007
Is this the moment that the horror film really "grew up"? It's a strong contender. A serious and powerful film about film and about the purpose of film and film's hold on a damaged psyche.
Powell's shocker is expertly handled and it is easy to see why audiences in 1960 were not quite ready for such a psychological assault! Top, top quality cinema.
