Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Mariarita M — 29 Oct 2007
Scopophilia, the instict for looking at (voyeurism) and being looked at (exhibitionism), one of the most interesting instincts for sexual development in psychoanalytical terms, an instinct that uses the same energies and drives of epistemophilia.
Fantastic the story and the discourse of a wanna-be director of the 50s, Mark Lewis. Mark intends to continue his father's study on fear by looking at, camera in hand, his victims before and after their murder! A jewel of British Horror genre! Cinematography is peculiar as well, with some nice editing! The framing is great.
...and the camera perpetuates intruding on compositional's secrets (this epitomizes voyeurism!!!
