Review of Peeping Tom (1960) by Grant W — 12 Apr 2010
Although this film looks kind of grimy and has some dazzlingly atrocious acting... it is still more than capable of making an audience squirm. In many ways it has dated horribly, almost to the point of comicality, but in a completely different way it seems remarkably ahead of its time.
For 1960 standards, this is brazen, twisted and perverse to the highest degree and even today, in this era where a new "Saw" movie is released every other week, it manages to make us uncomfortable.
Its a oddball concoction of dated dialogue and acting with camera work, violence and theory that anticipates a great many things that have since come.
