Review of Peep World (2010) by David M — 07 Dec 2011
A formulaic dysfunctional family dramedy, about a member of the family that writes a book of fiction that is a barely veiled tell all of his dysfunctional family. Michael C Hall tries again to make the jump to film after rising to fame as the star of Dexter, he's more suited for the small screen though, as is Sarah Silverman.
The script is a by the books indie feature, it breaks no new ground. The characters are all generally dislikable, but it builds a bit of sympathy. Is it me, or is Rainn Wilson like John C Reilly lite? The obligatory end scene where everyone has it out and airs everything is okay, but drags.
It's uninspired, but the genre choic puts it above mainstream action or triller fare in my book.
