Review of Pee-wee's Big Holiday (2016) by Mallory A — 28 Mar 2016
I recently looked on my list and saw Pee-wee was back for "Pee-wee's Big Holiday". And that, it was, big. I sensationalize with watching nostalgic movies, you know, those based on something we can refer back to that warms us or gives us a sense of past, present and future.
I was expecting to see the old graphic introduction, but that was not a part of the director, "John Lee's" aim. He authenticated the established Pee Wee with everything in this movie concurrent and new! We always delight in the modern age of cgi, we can continue to marvel at Pee-wee.
Thwarting efforts to get rid of the negative media surrounding the last scandal with Paul Reubens, Lee takes the helm of taking the Pee Wee ship to a whole new level. With famous actors and actresses, Pee Wee goes about the movie making friends and having a good time doing it.
He also stands up to what is moral and right. Putting the previous "Movie Theater" Scandal to shame. Lee takes us on a whole new prized journey where fun and childhood laughter abound in a moral and ethical way- he drives being kind into the soul.
But don't think this movie is for children, although there is nothing obscene, we see lures to understand adult type themes, but not over the top. "Pee-wee has brought back his innocence".
He's redeemed. Watch this and be no longer disappointed in the Pee-wee story. It helps to know how hard Reuben has tried to make his character well known, from working in comedy clubs to finding the Big Screen.
If you ever were a Pee-wee fan, you'll stay one and if you weren't before, you will be now. Paul Reubens appears, young, healthy and friendly as ever as "Pee-wee's Big Holiday" becomes a renowned hit in 2016.
I give this movie Five Stars and Two Thumbs Up!!
