Review of Pecker (2010) by Jenn Rocks Vegas — 26 Sep 2008
Pecker is certainly a hit - A John Waters kinda hit.
Edward Furlong stars as the amiable Pecker, a kid with a thrift store camera and a feisty girlfriend. What makes the movie great is the social satire Waters is so fabulous at achieving. The art world, with its pretention and fascination of the droll, ie; outsider art.
Heh.
Of course, there's some lines that always must be crossed - like Little Chrissy, the sugar-crazed lunatic, the Tea Bagging at Tina's Trade place, and the gratuitous beaver shot. BUT. All in all, Pecker is a joyous film, with all of Waters usual friends and cohorts rounding out the supporting cast, ie: Mink Stole and Mr. Pinky... And the beautifully cast Edward Furlong and Christina Ricci.
Another delight is seeing the marvelous Lili Taylor. She's a wonderful actress and I always enjoy seeing her work. Bravo, John! Another success!
