Review of Pearl Harbor (2001) by Katlyn M — 29 Apr 2013
This is definitely a Micheal Bay film. Horrible casting, terrible story, and overblown special effects. Bay must have had a total man crush on Ben Affleck, since he tries desperately to turn him into Superman.
He flies fighters over England, fighters over Pearl, bombers over Japan, pulls sailors out of the water, gives blood in the hospital, barn storms out of hangers, guns down a company of Japanese soldiers, beats up Josh Hartnett and gets the best looking nurse in the Navy.
It was a joke. Affleck and Hartnett looked more like restaurant waiters than fighter pilots. Leave it to Bay to turn a pivotal event like this, in American history, and make into a joke. One of our greatest defeats, where 3000+ people died, is treated like daytime soap opera.
Very little attention to detail or historical accuracy is paid here. Bay is a disgrace.
