Review of Peacock (2005) by Jenna I — 09 Nov 2017
What a weird movie. This is really out there, but it's more because of its ability to steer around cliches than anything else. Cillian once again makes a more beautiful woman than I'll ever be, and plays it so natural and normal- Emma is definitely a woman, born out of trauma but trying to do better. On the other hand, John is stuck in his trauma and unable to escape it.
In that sense it's an interesting movie about a cry for help that ends up being heard and fixed by the one doing the pleading. That's also what makes it so odd... this is the strangest self-help split personality movie I've seen. But that's perhaps where Peacock succeeds... instead of an evil personality, you have a more confident and more competent helper. Perhaps we could all use that type of problem...
