Review of Peaceful Warrior (2006) by Sabine B — 31 Dec 2007
I liked the movie, but it was predictable, a standard storyline of overconfident teenage talent who has a great life ahead of him, who throws it all away through teenage spoiled rotten anger management issues, and then fights his way back to the top with a better understanding of how precious his talent is.
I don't care for Nick Nolte much, and I didn't really understand what purpose his superhuman powers served, but he makes a good mentor figure, and is a good actor. The kid was well acted, and the movie managed to cut in the stuntdouble quite convincingly.
Maybe there's a book this was based on and Nick Nolte's superpowers make more sense in that context. If so, the director failed to translate the context to the screen.
