(2003) Paycheck.
SCIENCE- FICTION/ ACTION.
The role passed up by Matt Damon because of his conflict with the Bourne films and suggested Ben Affleck as a candidate to do this instead! Idea taken from a Philip K. Dick story but of course adapted to these current times! This was supposed to be director John Woo's attempt to make an action film without the leading star to use a gun, in which Ben Affleck practically begged Woo to have him to use a gun at least on one scene- I remembered Ben Affleck held a gun, but I don't ever recall seeing Ben actually firing it though! Before Ben Affleck went into this film hoped it was going to be another "Hard-boiled" or even "The Killer" and was neither, despite Woo being known for it's violent shootings in his Hong Kong films! All this is, is another attempt of Woo adapting to Hollywood's lenient standards! This is an action film without any real action! Although, there was one action scene that was mimiced from another film regarding diving underneath a train before going over which originally came from a film released in 1974 called "The Odessa File" starring Jon Voight! Pg action film at it's worst!
1 out of 4.
