Review of Paycheck (2003) by Mavis Wanni T — 31 Jul 2009
Quite a good story. Considering it is a short from Philip K Dick. But the movie wasn't well made. Ben Affleck is a computer engineer and is always working for different companies doing sercret things, and later have his memory of the process erased and get paid well for it.
Aaron Eckhart one day finds him and said he will receive 8 digits of salary for 3 years of work. Ben met Uma Thurman at a party and also works in the same company as Aaron. In a very quick flash, 3 years is up.
He have no memory of the 3 years. When he go to collect his money and items, he found out he sold all his stocks and the items were not his. And they were sent by him weeks before. FBI nab him and wants to know what dealings he has done.
The items in the envelope aids his escapes all the time. Aaron & Colm Feore were expecting him to be kill. In the 3 years, he had develope a machine that sees the future. Ben knew the disastrous endings of such a powerful machines and so had the items replaced to aid his own self of the past to destroy the machine.
Uma helps him about halfway of his quest. Ben saw his death and managed to prevent it. In the end, the baddies all die. From one of the items Ben found the winning lottery ticket under the birdcage. Just as Paul Giamatti was asking did he have anything useful after seeing the future.
