Review of Payback (1999) by Erica K — 29 May 2008
This is a cool revenge movie with a Dick Tracy-esque narrative by Gibson. It has a "Sin City" feel even though it was created prior to "Sin City"..so I guess "Sin City" has a Payback feel to it.
Porter (Gibson) is believable and not over the top like some 'action heroes' and is therefore more likable because of the human qualities. The cinematography adds to the film as some of the colour is removed, leaving a more grey and ominous feel.
