Review of Payback (1999) by Josh O — 11 Feb 2014

I'm aware this is based off a book written much before the film, but the film feels equally dated. Gibson is on a mission of revenge after he is cheated on a heist he was in on and was left for dead.

The problem I have is the film isn't that interesting or original. It does everything that you've seen many times over but doesn't do anything interesting, new, or noteworthy. It feels too by-the-numbers for me to truly enjoy it.
