"This is it folks! "Pay the Ghost" is the final nail in Nicolas Cage's career coffin. He is finished.".

DVD Movie Review: Pay the Ghost.

Date Viewed: December 5 2015.

Directed By Uli Edel (Last Exit to Brooklyn, The Baader Meinhof Complex and Body of Evidence).

Screenplay By Dan Kay.

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Sarah Wayne Callies,.

Jack Fulton, Lyriq Bent, Elizabeth Jeanne, Erin Boyes, Lauren Beatty, Veronica Ferres and Juan Carlos Velis.

Has it completely come to this for Nicolas Cage? Has his once distinguished career finally hit rock bottom? Have we lost him forever to crappy low-rent projects? First came, "The Wicker Man", two "Ghost Rider" movies, "Knowing", "Drive Angry", "Season of the Witch", "Trespass", "Left Behind", "Dying of the Light", "Outcast" and now this? Nic Cage's latest atrocity "Pay the Ghost" is a horror thriller about a college professor who loses his son to a mysterious entity and he must figure out the secret to the paranormal presence who kidnapped his son.

Hey Nic, if you hired Jeb Bush to fix your career, he can't fix anything because his poll numbers are now at 3%. This is it folks! "Pay the Ghost" is the final nail in Nicolas Cage's career coffin. He is finished. While taking his son (Jack Fulton) out for a Halloween carnival, Mike Cole (Cage) easily loses him and he frantically goes searching. He calls the police for help but they can't find his son anywhere in the city. A year later, Mike begins to notice the words "pay the ghost" everywhere he goes, the last words his son uttered on the day he disappeared.

Mike turns to his estranged wife, Kristen (Sarah Wayne Callies) for help but she wants nothing to with him because he lost their son.

Kristen eventually changes her mind after seeing her son's scooter riding itself. Mike and Kristen call a psychic for help and the psychic does find something out about the entity hiding's place, she whispers "It's here...

And it has all the children". After calling the entity out, she gets strangled to death and her internal organs get burned to ash.

It is all up to Nicolas Cage to get his son back and I really hope the ghost tries to put some sense into him. There is nothing here in this movie to appreciate, the acting is really bad, the directing is terrible and the screenplay is awful. For a talented filmmaker, who did "Last Exit to Brooklyn", "The Baader Meinhof Complex" and the Razzie-winning classic "Body of Evidence", director Uli Edel surprisingly has little regard for character development and the script by Dan Kay makes no sense whatsoever.

"Pay the Ghost" is an embarrassing outing for Cage and there is no reason for this movie to exist. By throwing shades of "Ransom" and "Insidious", this picture is completely unoriginal. "Pay the Ghost" is not exactly a new low for Cage but it's a true stinker alright.

Please, Please, Please avoid it.
