Review of Pawn Sacrifice (2015) by Usman F — 25 Sep 2015
The movie was average and more about dramatizing the character of Bobby Fischer in a negative way. As a chess player and great admirer of Bobby Fischer's chess games the movie barely scratches the surface on the chess aspects and the genius of Fischer. I personally would have loved the movie if some of the most critical moments of his chess career and creative ingenuity were covered in more detail. His stunning queen sacrifice against Donald Byrne famously known as the Game of the Century and the fact Donald allowed Fischer to checkmate him as a gesture of sportsman spirit and admiration of Fischers skill would have been great 5 minute.
Hollywood dramatic direction.
