Review of Pawn Sacrifice (2015) by Beth B — 24 Dec 2015
I was a 9 year old aspiring chess player when Bobby Fischer won the World Chess Championship. It is hard to communicate the fascination and excitement that I felt when Fischer beat Spassky, but this movie channels it brilliantly.
My hat is off to the screenwriter, the producer, Tobey MacGuire and the rest of the crew for making a brilliant and beautiful film. In my mind, an Oscar for MacGuire would be well-deserved. He WAS Bobby Fischer and this was the best film I have seen in a long while.
