Review of Pawn (2013) by Allan C — 29 Aug 2013
For a direct-to-video release, there's a pretty solid cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta, Michael Chiklis and Stephen Lang. It's also a pretty scrappy little crime film about a group of robbers who stick-up a diner that ends up being a front for the mob.
The cops then surround the diner, turning the situation into a hostage situation. The story is told somewhat in flashbacks, revealing more twists to what at first looks like a straightforward hold-up gone wrong.
The film isn't up to "The Desperate Hours" quality, but it's still a pretty darn good little film with an intense cast, though I'm still not quite sure why Michael Chiklis needed to use an accent.
