Review of Pauly Shore Stands Alone (2014) by Wil B — 29 Dec 2015
For folks like me who loathed Pauly Shore in his heyday, it's a low bar to like him more after seeing him struggling to pay the bills and take care of his ailing mother now that he's in his 40s.
Having said that, this movie was a disappointment. Directed by Shore, it's carefully cultivated to make him appear to be a more sympathetic character than I suspect he really is. Occasionally, some of the overweening narcissism leaks out, and reminds me why I didn't like him in the nineties.
The movie does have some funny lines, however, and it's interesting to see the inner-workings of the comedy circuit in small town Midwest America.
