I'm not saying this is true but you should never put it past the government. They have the power to do something like this. It seems like there are an awful lot of coincidences. Like how they could fill stadiums with people but stopped touring out of nowhere; and his face looked so different from before Rubber Soul then compared to Sergeant Peppers.
Either a LOT of coincidences or maybe some heavy duty cover up. Either way Lennon should be alive today.
