Review of Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009) by Dan E — 22 Jun 2013
For us movie fans we have already learned the lesson of not underestimating Kevin James. For many he has become one of the best comedic actors and if not at least we consider him good enough to be the lead actor in a comedy (unlike other movies where he was a supportive character to Will Smith in Hitch or Adam Sandler in Larry and Chuck).
America has voted and the box office cannot lie. Over a hundred million dollars puts him up there with Adam Sandler, Will Smith, Jim Carrey, and Ben Stiller. But the suprising thing for me about this movie which was a satire of Die Hard (scooba dooba doo replacing the classic yipee yae yippie yae mother.
..) was the performance by Jayma Mays. She was a great choice to play Paul Blarts love interest and played the sweet Amy who owned a samll store in the mall. The laughs began half way through the movie once the crooks took over the mall.
I have to say I enjoyed this movie and got a lot of laughs out of it.
