Review of Paul (2011) by Kollin S — 13 Aug 2012
As much as I love seeing Pegg and Frost on screen, this movie is no Shaun of the Dead. You can really feel the lack of Edgar Wright in this movie. This movie could have been great, but just turned out to be like every other comedy out there.
If it weren't for the weed, fart, dick and bible smashing jokes and the ovelry use of unfunny bad language, this movie would be up there with Pegg's other greats. In fact there is some bad language in their previous movies, but its usually funny.
Sadly this was overly Americanized with 'actors' from SNL. If you liked Adventure land, Pineapple Express, McGrueber and various other movies like that, then this is your movie. If you loved Shaun Of The Dead, Spaced, and Hot Fuzz, be ready for disappointment.
Edgar Wright isn't involved in this movie. Also if you are a creationist or just don't believe in evolution/science, then you should steer clear of this movie. That doesn't mean their other movies are like that.
Only this one is.
