Review of Paul (2011) by Dontbenasty — 22 Oct 2011
This movie reaches for the stars, but ultimately it crash and burns during reentry. technically the movie was very good, the set ups and the environments are great and with nice effects as well as Paul's animation and CGI model. the movie itself gives a sense of an adventurous trip mixed with chase elements, something that I love. There is also a fair amount of funny parts and sci-fi references with the characters being adorably goofy. eventually all of this stops. the characters turn to nasty foulmouthed pieces of meat and there's nasty jokes and swearing all over the place. It would be great to see it with your family, but this greatness falls short due to the aforementioned drawbacks.
FINAL VERDICT.
Its unfortunate that I liked Pegg as the infamous Scottish character in star trek. Its also unfortunate that most part of the viewers have come to not only tolerate, but like this kind of comedy, a comedy that relies mostly on nasty jokes and swearing rather than real comedy and Paul is an example of this.
