Review of Paul (2011) by Michelle H — 05 Oct 2012

I love a super nerdy movie as much as the next person. Paul was an odd movie for me. I felt like it was Shaun of the Dead (which I loved) meshed with Pineapple Express(which I did not love). Paul has a few saving graces. Nick Frost and Simon Pegg play the roles of super nerdy English folk visiting the states for a nerd rode-trip and the roles come naturally to them. Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman and Sigourney Weaver are nice touches to pump up the movie.

I didn't like Paul that much for the same reason I didn't like Pineapple Express. There was a lot of stupid humor in it. The fantastic clever and/or nerdy parts were overshadowed be repetitive stupid jokes that made me feel like I was in middle school. It was sad. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost wrote this movie and it really disappointed me, they can do so much better than this movie.
