Review of Patton (1970) by Mike G — 14 Aug 2010
Have long loved this movie ever since I can remember. Schaffner's magnum opus is astonishing in scale and scope and includes one of the best portrayals of a historic figure ever filmed. Even though George C.
Scott's gravelly voice isn't anything like the real Patton's, it doesn't matter because he so captures the spirit and essence of one of America's greatest heros, generals and military minds.
Without Patton, America's involvement in WW2 would have been a different affair altogether. Not since Stonewall Jackson has any Westpoint man been as militarily brilliant and effective as this quintessential, iconic and towering figure of war.
