Review of Patton (1970) by Jan K — 21 Feb 2009
This movie is both great art and great entertainment. Without doubt this is George C. Scott's best performance in his career (and he did receive an Oscar for his role as General Patton). It's a war movie but also a psychological study of a maniac or a genius (pick your choice).
"The manifestation of the universal soldier", as one reviewer put it. I mean, seriously, this guy thought he actually had fought in Carthage (in 2nd C BC)! Highly recommended, and expect to be both thrilled and shocked by the complex protagonist.
