Review of Patton (1970) by Leah S — 24 Aug 2008
One of the best ways to become familiar with an historic event - in this case, WWII - is to become familiar with one of the characters who shaped it. Nowhere is this more true than with the film Patton.
Mr. Scott's performance is perhaps the definitive performance, not just of the general but (perhaps) the American character, as well. One of the aspects that help make this film what it is is the cinematography.
Goldsmith's score is at least equal to it's task. A big selling point for me (as it always is) is that the Germans are portrayed as Germans - i.e. speaking their language. This film is epic in every sense of the word.
