Review of Patton (1970) by Carl W — 20 May 2012
George C. Scott brings a great performance as General Patton, one of the most loved military generals ever. This is ever war movie fan's wetdream, and made it to 89 on AFI's top 100 list. All of it's elements, I don't agree with because it is very pro war, and the film is flawed, and overratted.
But it's a stunning charater study, of a man, who I personally believe was insane, and should have never been given control over soilders, but that ending can really make you be proud to be an American.
The only draw back is that it drags at times, and I'm not sure I would have given it best picture, but still, Patton is a classic tale in American cinema.
