Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Grant B — 12 Oct 2010
This is a spectacular film! The war scene is brutal and moving, but not near as moving as the trials and tribulations that the so-called "cowards" face at the hands of the French government.
Although the film is not speckled with a single French accent, that doesn't distract from the film at all. This film was acted so artfully, and on the note of art, this film has an amazing art direction! The scenery, costumes, props, ad makeup are all fantastic and really place the audience in the spur-clad boots of the French army during WWI.
It's quite emotional, and stands as an anthem to humanity and the actions and expectations of humanity during war.
