Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Juan Carlo V — 09 Feb 2013
Not an easy watch for me, I must confess. even thought Kubrick is my favorite film director (also Kurosawa), At the beginning I didn't know what to expect; an Anti-war film, making an anti-war statement.
.. that's what I heard. It was boring, but that is because I wasn't paying the proper attention to it, my mind wasn't ready for it. Kubrick is a Master, and he proved it to me once again with this film, this is his most emotional Film.
It is not really a war-film, it intends more... so much more. Kirk Douglas is more than terrific (One of his best performances). Kubrick surprised me in the ending, It is One of the Most Powerful endings in Cinema History.
just Brilliant. And horrifying....
